D Day 80th Anniversary

Lanterns lit in remembranceOn the 6th June, the United Kingdom commemorated the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings with a series of major commemorations and events.

To mark this special occasion we held a remembrance day where came to school dressed as a figure of inspiration from wartime and raised money for ‘Little Troopers’ and ‘Alzheimer’s Society’.

We held a special assembly where some of our Forces children shared memories of the war from some of our grandparents and great grandparents. We had a visit from a two military relations. We lit lanterns in remembrance and blew bubbles to say thank you. The celebrations culminated in a wartime musical concert from the Ukes of Wallington.
