Curriculum

“For genuine learning to take place, learners must be emotionally engaged”

At Red Barn Primary School, we are committed to providing an engaging and enriching curriculum that inspires our pupils to reach their full potential. As a maintained primary school, we are dedicated to delivering a curriculum that not only meets the national standards, but also reflects the unique needs and interests of our school community.

Our vision is to empower our pupils to recognise how to help others, achieve their best, know how to stay safe and healthy, and have a love of learning that they will carry with them on their educational journey. This vision is woven throughout our curriculum design, ensuring that our pupils are emotionally invested in their learning and can make genuine progress.

One of the key aspects of our curriculum is our child-led approach. At the start of each academic year, our pupils are given the opportunity to choose the topics they would like to explore, ensuring that the content is relevant and engaging for them. Our teachers then skillfully weave the aims and objectives of the national primary curriculum into these chosen topics, creating a dynamic and personalised learning experience.

This unique and effective approach to curriculum design has resulted in outstanding levels of progress and excellent Key Stage 2 results for our pupils. By fostering their natural curiosity and interests, we are able to create a learning environment where our pupils are truly invested in their own development.

As our pupils progress through Red Barn Primary, they are not only meeting the academic standards set out by the national curriculum, but they are also developing the essential life skills and values that will prepare them for the next stage of their learning journey. Our three simple rules - Safety, Respect, and Learning - guide our approach and ensure that every child who steps aboard the "Red Barn Bus" is equipped with the tools they need to succeed.

We are proud of the exceptional education we provide at Red Barn Primary School, and we look forward to welcoming your child aboard the "Red Barn Bus" to embark on an enriching and rewarding learning adventure.
