Safeguarding

We are deeply committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for all our pupil and  strive to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where our pupils feel valued, respected, and able to share their concerns

We provide regular safeguarding training for all our staff. Our curriculum also includes age-appropriate lessons on topics like online safety, healthy relationships, and personal boundaries, empowering our pupils to recognise and respond to potential risks.

Our Safeguarding Team, led by Mrs Walsh, works closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to identify and address any concerns promptly.

If you have any worries or questions about the safety and wellbeing of your child, please do not hesitate to  speak to a member of our Safeguarding Team.

E-Safety

We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our pupils and recongnise the importance of providing a safe and secure digital environment for our young learners.

In today's digital age, almost all communication devices can now access the internet, including mobile phones and gaming consoles. Good communication between parents and children is crucial to keeping our pupils safe online. To support this, Red Barn Primary has implemented a comprehensive E-Safety curriculum for all year groups, helping children develop the knowledge and skills to keep themselves safe while using the internet and digital technologies.

We have in place important firewalls and content philtres to protect our which we regularly monitor.

As part of our vision to "Recognise how to help others" and "Know how to stay safe and healthy," we believe that working closely with parents is essential to keeping our pupils safe online. We regularly share updates and resources with parents to help them support their children's online activities at home. By working together, we can ensure that our pupils have a safe and positive experience while exploring the digital world.

At the heart of our E-Safety approach is our school's core values of Safety, Respect, and Learning. We empower our pupils to be responsible and ethical digital citizens, fostering their understanding of how to use technology in a way that aligns with our vision of helping others and staying safe and healthy.

By prioritising E-Safety and digital citizenship, we are equipping our pupils with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate the online world safely and confidently, taking their love of learning with them on their future journeys.

Safety Superstars

We are The Safety Superstars!

Our role within the school is:

  • to ensure the children and staff remain safe
  • to check the walkie-talkies are charged
  • to carry out traffic surveys
  • to organise safety events
  • to collect and track the scores of our travel tracker

From our recent traffic survey, we identified some potentially dangerous behaviour:

  •  parking on the double yellow lines
  •  speeding around corners
  •  blocking citizens’ driveways and the main exit and entrance of the school
  •  parking in front of a junction

We have identified and generated some possible solutions to these issues:

  • to walk to school
  • to park at least five minutes away and walk the rest of the way to school
  • to cycle to school

In addition to this, we have created a new bike rack and helmet storage for you to use. All you need is your bike lock and padlock for the helmet storage.

Another related topic to this is the ‘Walking to School programme’. We would like to encourage you to do this so we can prevent any accidents. As an additional bonus, your child can get their ‘Walk to School’ badges through our Travel Tracker.

If you require any additional information, please contact us through the school office
