Uniform

At Red Barn Primary School, we believe that a smart, well-maintained school uniform plays an important role in creating a sense of belonging and community for our pupils. By adhering to our uniform policy, we remove any potential barriers that could make some children feel uncomfortable or self-conscious, ensuring that all our young learners feel equally valued and included.

Our vision at Red Barn Primary is to nurture children who can recognise how to help others, achieve their best, know how to stay safe and healthy, and develop a lifelong love of learning. Our uniform policy supports this vision by instilling a sense of pride, discipline, and unity among our pupils.

All P.E. clothing should be contained within a named drawstring P.E. bag for children in Year R.

Watches and Jewellery
  • Children can wear an analogue or digital watch. Although we encourage children to wear watches in school to help them to learn to tell the time, children are not allowed to wear ‘smart’ watches, or any watch that has the same functionality as a mobile phone.
  • Children are allowed to wear one pair of small, plain, stud earrings.
  • Earrings should be removed or taped over for PE lessons.
  • No other jewellery is allowed (such as necklaces or friendship bands).
General
  • No make-up, nail varnish or false nails.
  • Please ensure that all uniform and coats are clearly marked with your child’s name as this makes it much easier to return lost items.
  • Please note that children who are not wearing correct school or PE uniform will be lent spare items.  We will contact you and expect the child to be in correct uniform the following day.

Please ensure that all of your child's clothing is clearly labelled with their name. While items embroidered with the school logo are not compulsory, they can be purchased from our local supplier, Skoolkit in West Street, Fareham.
